Fall Trends in Cabbage Patch Doll Clothes

October- November- perfect time to start wearing the new fall colors!

As soon as I complete all my Halloween sewing, I pull out all my fall fabrics and put them in a pile.

As I look at them, I dream up what the fabric is calling out to me to be made into. Literally, I am thinking during the night!

This year, fall is especially exciting because our first Grandchild was due and was born on October 13. We are thrilled, as our little Daniel is 10 days old as I write this.

Sometimes I am embroidering...

Sometimes I am drawing up new patterns...

This is another pattern that I designed myself...the hooded pj/ romper.

I just created this bonnet pattern for a customer and needed to make one for fall.

These little jumpers style dresses can be worn alone or with a shirt under it.

Grey leaf in a simple one piece style dress. This was a sample pattern to see if my 12" doll patterns would fit a bunny- just another customer request.

She mailed me the bunny so I could fit the dress.

I added an embroidery to this cute paisley dress and to the coordinating pants set.

I have an entire bolt of this blue fabric so you will see it a lot.

This was a tiny bit of home dec fabric. Just enough for this 12" size skirt.

Not to brag, but I love the embroideries!

Some are pretty detailed!

I added the navy t-shirt to these faux suede green print pants.

and the same fabric made into a blouse with denim skirt!

I feel like I won the fall jackpot with this darling dress and pant set!

On my 16" doll.

Same fabric, style #2.

An apron by request.

Never too busy for pants and skirts sets!

I was so busy sewing for my dolls that I didn't make anything for my little Grandson!

I am so happy with these mouse ears pants and dresses! It reminds me of the fall we took our kids to the famous Florida attraction. These are especially appropriate for me because my little Grand baby lives in Florida.

A denim dress pattern that I designed myself.

Hoodies keep your doll warm on those cold days.

Hearts for the dolls I love.
A good friend gave me the fabric for these fun pants.

Lots of things for the boys too!

Fall Floral Fun!

Apple picking for boys and girls!

Animal print, anyone?

For those of you who wouldn't think it would be fall without some purple included.

Camouflage for the little hunter!

I finished an entire collection of fall pants too!

Time for some football!

Bitty Baby needed something for fall too!

Sometimes I am feeling musical and just want something simple.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ebay / Etsy / Amazon Handmade

I started selling on Ebay on January 31,2002. The first thing I made was an embroidered patriotic star denim jacket. I wish I still had a picture of that! I decided that if it sold, I would list two more things. it sold right away! I started I was sewing two things for every one thing that I sold. Everything was handmade by me. Snowsuits were my top seller that year. Soon, I had an e-bay store. I was busy for many years. I started slowing down when I had to start saying "18 doll clothes" instead of using the brand of the doll that I was selling for. I believe that hurt my business because when people would search by brand name, they would not find me. The difficult thing was other people selling handmade clothes were still using the brand name (and still do) while I had my listings pulled. This year, things slowed down so much that I was paying more for fees then I was selling. It is sad to say but I finally decided to shut down my store. -----------------...

Cabbage Patch Snacktime Kid Outfit- Special Order

One Saturday night, several weeks back, I received a request for a Snacktime Kid outfit. I had never heard of that particular doll so posted on the 'Cabbage Patch Kids Buy, Sell & Trade' Group. In the meantime, I googled it and found that it was a doll that had been recalled in 1997. Evidently, not everyone returned their dolls. This doll eats plastic food and goes through her into a backpack through a hole in her back. I was awake most of the night trying to figure out how to sew this. How will I make it when I don't have the doll? Do I make a slit in the back of the outfit or somehow sew an actual hole? The next day, my customer said she wanted a Robot Snowsuit. I figured this is the one she had seen on Amazon Handmade. The one I had made was for a boy doll. I found out that her little boy had her old 16" girl doll and carried it around so I think she wanted something more 'boyish'.  I pulled out the fabric to make sure I had enough. I had ...

Black Friday? How to save money on doll clothes

It is that time of year! Sellers like myself work all year to stock up for what they may need for the upcoming Christmas holiday season.  ♥ Sales: Watch for deals on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, November 30th, and December 7th (small business Saturday). Right now I am offering free shipping on $35 purchases on both Etsy and Amazon.  On E-bay, I have most items marked down to $11.99! Regular prices would be $13.99 and up. At this time of the year, I look at what I have sold last year, look at what I sold this week, and plan my sewing accordingly. Thinking toward sales, I look at what I sold last year, count up what I sold this year, and decide what needs to be marked down. Anything I haven't made in the past month could be marked down. I look over what I have and decide. The dilemma is whether people simply want me to lower my prices, put my regular prices on sale, offer shipping bundles, offer a coupon off of a certain amount of sales, or to offer free sh...
