St. Patrick's Day

I have always considered myself Swedish. My Great Grandparents all immigrated from Sweden. My Dad was adopted by Swedish parents.  Being a redhead people automatically thought I was Irish. A year or so ago, my Dad had his genealogy done and it looks like I do have some Irish blood in me. I will say that I think I look good in green. So, in honor of the upcoming holiday, for the past couple of weeks, I have been committed to making Irish / Shamrock / Green / St. Patrick's Day Outfits. Most of my outfits are one of a kind.

Bitty Baby needed something new so I made this sleeveless dress with shorts. The fabric is a green background with silver shamrocks.

The Bitty Baby Boy also needed something to celebrate in so I made him this cute pair of shamrock pjs. They are a white cotton with tiny green shamrocks all over it.

Now on to Cabbage Patch. My Cabbage Patch 16" Girl wanted a couple of choices for the upcoming parade. (You noticed I bought a red headed girl doll.)

Classic jumper embroidered with a large shamrock. The fabric is faux suede.

Molly

Riley features a hook and loop tape polar fleece jacket, extra large hood, and shamrock embroidery. The skirt is two tone with a green moire at the top and another shade of green corduroy at the bottom.

Because of so many requests for the 14" Cabbage Patch and Preemie size clothing, I made 6 sets for the girl doll.

Tiffany is a princess so I took a green floral, made that into a skirt, added my favorite shamrock on the bodice, and added a headband.

Shannon likes to be a little more casual. A fun checkered skirt has been matched with a white blouse with a coordinating shamrock applique.

Haley wanted a little more texture so I used a fabric that has more of a 'touch' to it for the skirt to which I added the shamrock fabric made into an applique. A kelly green t shirt completes the look.

Casey wanted something for warmer weather. The shorts feature a scroll design and the blouse a polka dot fabric that has been embroidered with my tiny shamrock.

Fiona needed pants! She received bright green pants, an embroidered shamrock blouse, and a headband.

Kerry loes pastels so I made a light yellow pull over hooded polar fleece sweatshirt with a large shamrock embroidery. The skirt is a mint green faux suede and opens in the back with hook and loop tape.

Now the boys need something. I made this set to fit both your 14", 14" preemie, and 16" kids doll. They feature lime green polar fleece pants and white embroidered sweatshirts.

This next one both boys and girls may like. The pants are a cozy and fluffy sweater type fabric. I am not sure what type of fabric it is because my mom thought it was fun and bought it for me. The sweatshirt is fleece, is embroidered with a large shamrock, and is two tone.

Casey

Sean wanted something with a hat so I made him dark green checkered pants, an off white polar fleece sweatshirt and that hat. This one has a more intricate shamrock embroidery. I had to try a new embroidery out this season.

May your troubles be less and your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness come through your door!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Introducing Hope & Holden

3 Years ago, when I was dreaming about new patterns, I started realizing that I had fallen in love with doll clothes that were hooded.  My flannel Pajamas were one of my top sellers so I decided that I needed to draft a hooded pj pattern for the Bitty Baby Dolls.  My first ones had with ears but they take 50 percent longer to make so my buyers didn't want to pay that much extra for the work that was involved. There are a few of these marked down in my stores because I am not currently making Bitty Baby Clothes. I also have an Owl one for CP on Amazon that has been marked down. Without the ears ***Still cute but not as high of a price point. In March of last year, I said, "Cabbage Patch, why not?" So I drafted patterns for the 16 inch dolls.  Soon, 14 inch and preemie sizes were made. The hoods are larger on the preemie but I can specially make a smaller hood if one was wanted because I made a pattern for that too.  Last month, I realized th...

Cabbage Patch Snacktime Kid Outfit- Special Order

One Saturday night, several weeks back, I received a request for a Snacktime Kid outfit. I had never heard of that particular doll so posted on the 'Cabbage Patch Kids Buy, Sell & Trade' Group. In the meantime, I googled it and found that it was a doll that had been recalled in 1997. Evidently, not everyone returned their dolls. This doll eats plastic food and goes through her into a backpack through a hole in her back. I was awake most of the night trying to figure out how to sew this. How will I make it when I don't have the doll? Do I make a slit in the back of the outfit or somehow sew an actual hole? The next day, my customer said she wanted a Robot Snowsuit. I figured this is the one she had seen on Amazon Handmade. The one I had made was for a boy doll. I found out that her little boy had her old 16" girl doll and carried it around so I think she wanted something more 'boyish'.  I pulled out the fabric to make sure I had enough. I had ...

Ebay / Etsy / Amazon Handmade

I started selling on Ebay on January 31,2002. The first thing I made was an embroidered patriotic star denim jacket. I wish I still had a picture of that! I decided that if it sold, I would list two more things. it sold right away! I started I was sewing two things for every one thing that I sold. Everything was handmade by me. Snowsuits were my top seller that year. Soon, I had an e-bay store. I was busy for many years. I started slowing down when I had to start saying "18 doll clothes" instead of using the brand of the doll that I was selling for. I believe that hurt my business because when people would search by brand name, they would not find me. The difficult thing was other people selling handmade clothes were still using the brand name (and still do) while I had my listings pulled. This year, things slowed down so much that I was paying more for fees then I was selling. It is sad to say but I finally decided to shut down my store. -----------------...
