Pajamas - Emma Style!

After I purchased my Cabbage Patch 16" redheaded girl doll, it was pretty simple to figure out what I wanted to make first. I had been selling pajamas (made by me) for the 15" Bitty Baby and 18" Girl Doll on Ebay and Etsy for quite a while and wanted to design this pattern to fit my new doll.

These pjs needed to be wide enough to fit the CP's large feet and have arms easy to pull over her chubby little hands. Simplicity and ease of putting on would be my rule in this style. Zippers are super popular so those needed to be included. June was now here so they needed to be lightweight and made out of fun, summertime prints. I decided that cotton knit would be just the thing to use because it is lighter then flannel or fleece and has the stretch I wanted. The drawing and fitting began.

I always joke that I should be a doctor because of my horrible handwriting.

5 fabrics were then chosen.                                                                        LOVE THEM!

The necks are triple stitched down. Ribbing is sewn on with my sewing maching, serged down, and then topstitched.

Here is the inside of the neck side by side with the finished neckline.

Seams are double stitched. They are sewn with the sewing machine and then serged with my serger.

Finishing touch---seam sealant!

3 days later.....we have 10 new pjs! Aren't they pretty?
First, we will take at a look at 'Emma in Apples'.

It features a white background with darling apples and daisy's in a variety of colors.

Check out this awesome, 'Emma in Roses'

It has red and pink roses on a pretty white background.

Third, you will fall in love with the 'Emma at the Zoo'

This has monkey's, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and bears all over it.

Fourth, softness is abundant in 'Emma in Stars'.

White background with stars, hearts, peace signs, and flowers.

Last but certainly not least is 'Emma loves Flowers and Hearts.'

Looks like a watercolor print!

These pjs are designed to be carefree, comfortable, and stylish!

I hope you are falling in love with Emma's new pajamas!!!

Ebay / Etsy / Amazon Handmade

I started selling on Ebay on January 31,2002. The first thing I made was an embroidered patriotic star denim jacket. I wish I still had a picture of that! I decided that if it sold, I would list two more things. it sold right away! I started I was sewing two things for every one thing that I sold. Everything was handmade by me. Snowsuits were my top seller that year. Soon, I had an e-bay store. I was busy for many years. I started slowing down when I had to start saying "18 doll clothes" instead of using the brand of the doll that I was selling for. I believe that hurt my business because when people would search by brand name, they would not find me. The difficult thing was other people selling handmade clothes were still using the brand name (and still do) while I had my listings pulled. This year, things slowed down so much that I was paying more for fees then I was selling. It is sad to say but I finally decided to shut down my store. -----------------...

Black Friday? How to save money on doll clothes

It is that time of year! Sellers like myself work all year to stock up for what they may need for the upcoming Christmas holiday season.  ♥ Sales: Watch for deals on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, November 30th, and December 7th (small business Saturday). Right now I am offering free shipping on $35 purchases on both Etsy and Amazon.  On E-bay, I have most items marked down to $11.99! Regular prices would be $13.99 and up. At this time of the year, I look at what I have sold last year, look at what I sold this week, and plan my sewing accordingly. Thinking toward sales, I look at what I sold last year, count up what I sold this year, and decide what needs to be marked down. Anything I haven't made in the past month could be marked down. I look over what I have and decide. The dilemma is whether people simply want me to lower my prices, put my regular prices on sale, offer shipping bundles, offer a coupon off of a certain amount of sales, or to offer free sh...

Create Doll Clothes with me!

Back from the end of March through the end of May, I was only ordering fabric to pick up. A few weeks ago, I ventured into the fabric store with my mom again.  I ended up going to three stores in three days and purchased these 7 darling cotton girl prints. I had so much fun shopping! What would you make out of them?   Time will tell what my brain dreams up and if I have customer special requests. So---without further ado---here they are.  Went outside in our hot Chicago weather to photo them. Some dresses I have made for the girls.
